Acronet is also in Africa!

At the request of the Italian Department of Civil Protection and in collaboration with the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation, CIMA Research Foundation went to Sudan in early March.

The purpose of the mission was to carry out topographic surveys with the help of drones from the Mayo area, which since 1991 has housed a camp for displaced persons where today lives around 600,000 people, mostly from Gedaref, Sennar, South Sudan, Chad, Democratic Republic of the Congo and Nigeria.

The topographic surveys will be used to evaluate the water drainage conditions during the rainy season, so as to identify possible interventions to reduce the flood risk to prepare the necessary measures to protect a part of the field from flooding: in this regard, it was installed an Acronet station, with customized configuration that allows to measure rain, atmospheric pressure, humidity and temperature and sends in real time the data, that can thus be processed by the CIMA Foundation technicians.
